A natural wood framed shadow box which contains a sculpted open book which on the left side is a copy of the original Armenian alphabet and on the right a miniature of Saint Mesrop Mashtots who invented it.

| Inscriptions | "Armenian Alphabet" and "Municipality of Yerevan" in English and in Armenian and the coat of arms of Yerevan. There is a small booklet which describes the history of the alphabet which is attache to the back of the shadow box and hangs from a cord which ends with a white tassel. On the back of the shadow box is a label with printing in Armenian and English "The Capital of the Republic of Armenia was declared by UNESCO as the World Book Capital 2012." |
