The upper half shows a star, the symbol of the Hero of the Soviet Union, which was introduced after the heroic defense of the city during the Second World War.<br \/>\nThe upper half of the shield also symbolises the Tsaritsyn fortress. The red colour symbolises the braveness and the blood shed for the Motherland.The lower half of the arms shows a wheel, symbol for the many industries in the city. The wheat ears symbolise the fertility of the lands and the city.
