"Uchiwa was introduced from China into Japan. The present type of uchiwa, which is made of a rounded paper and bamboo, was created during the Muromachi period (1338-1573). For making various types of it, we made the round paper and cedar handler separately. In fact, this technique originally entered from Korea...."
