Regards, Kamal All started when our little family received a very generous and amicable invitation from the president of Life Beyond Tourism Foundation Mr. Paolo Del Bianco to Florence and Forte Dei Marmi. What would be the present that we can offer to a very special and one of a kind person! My wife Carine came up with a great idea; she proposed to buy Mr. Del Bianco a handmade silver plate with flora and fauna carvings from Aleppo. We had to face two challenges; first to find a silver shop that is still open in Aleppo which is undergoing an armed conflict since more than four years, and second to bring the plate to Bahrain where we live since three years. So I started by asking my mother who is still living in Aleppo to contact the owner of the silver shop we deal with. She called me back saying that he managed to save some articles from his store which is located in a war zone and he sold them all to a silver shop in Beirut. He recommended her another shop that is still open in the area where she lives. My mother went to that shop; she took some pictures of different designs of silver plates that the owner kept in his store from the old good days! She sent me the pictures to make our choice. Decided on the design of the plate we liked, I asked my mother to buy it and to request the owner of the shop to produce a proper box for it. I asked her also to contact once again the owner of the silver shop we know to ask him whether he has kept a swan-design silver letter opener. Luckily he had three left, so we bought one for Me. Del Bianco. During this time my wife and her mother who lived in Aleppo as well arranged a family meeting at the second half of July 2016 in Beirut. I asked my other then to send the silver plate and the letter opener with my mother in law to give it to my wife in order to bring it with her to Bahrain. Finally, the plate and the letter opener arrived on August 14th 2016 to Florence and on August 19th to Forte Dei Marmi where we gave them to Mr. Del Banco and his friendly and lovely wife.
