International Integration Meetings
involving professors and students from the faculties of Architecture of Bratislava,
Budapest, Cracow, Prague and Warsaw. Theme of the week: "Carrying on Eurenaissance
Project: Influences of Renaissance Florentine Art of the second half of 15th
century, in many European cities. Students' works exhibition and prize - giving".

This project wanted to be an answer
to some of nowadays European challenges: such as the discovery of common roots, which
overcome any political border and/or generation gap; the development of communication
among people of different cultures, thanks to a better mutual knowledge; or the active
contribution of people coming from different cultural areas, in order to reach common
goals.
While staying in Florence, students and professors visited the Uffizi Gallery, The
Palatina Gallery (Pitti Palace) and the Accademia Gallery. This was possible thanks to the
co-operation of the Monuments and Fine Arts Office of the provinces of Florence, Prato and
Pistoia.Students and
Professors also visited the garden of Villa Corsi Salviati, thanks to the co-operation of
the garden management.
Works realised by guest
students, together with works carried out by students of the Faculty of Architecture of
Florence (who were coordinated by Prof. Carlo Canepari), were showed and introduced in the
premises of VivaHotel Alexander, on Friday 12th November 1999. On that
occasion, there was the prize - giving of the work group, where people of different
countries best worked together.

International integration Meetings, with the presence of diplomatic and academic
authorities coming from Central and Eastern Europe and authorities from U.N.E.S.C.O.

International Integration Meetings among professors and students coming from Fine Arts
Academies of Cracow, Prague, Riga and Torun. Theme of the week: "The bridge of
friendship and peace. Students' works exhibition and prize - giving"

This project wanted to rouse students' artistic expressiveness, about important topics
for the Foundation's mission, such as friendship, brotherhood and peace.While staying in Florence, students
and professors visited the Uffizi Gallery, The Palatina Gallery (Pitti Palace) and the
Accademia Gallery. This was possible thanks to the co-operation of the Monuments and Fine
Arts Office of the provinces of Florence, Prato and Pistoia.
Students and Professors also
visited the International School of Specialisation in Graphic Arts "Il Bisonte"
and its Art Gallery, thanks to the co-operation of its management.

After all that, Arch. Takahiko
Saitou (Japan Institute of Architect) introduced the work done about the main
architectural features of Japanese ancient buildings compared with western ones.

International Integration Meetings involving professors and students from the
faculties of Architecture of Cracow, Minsk, Riga and Torun. Theme of the week: "Protection
of cultural values as an element of a sustainable urban development. Students' works

During this week students
dealt with problems connected with restoring buildings located in the cities historical
centres, without damaging the respective urban, cultural, historical and human context.
Students dealt with these topics through a case - study about the modernisation of Hotel
Laurus.
While staying in Florence,
students and professors visited the Uffizi Gallery, The Palatina Gallery (Pitti Palace)
and the Accademia Gallery. This was possible thanks to the co-operation of the Monuments
and Fine Arts Office of the provinces of Florence, Prato and Pistoia.
Students and Professors also
visited the International School of Specialisation in Graphic Arts "Il Bisonte"
and its Art Gallery. Mrs Guaita, Director of "Il Bisonte" School, gave to the
students catalogues and lithograph copies as a present.

students, were showed and introduced in the premises of VivaHotel Alexander, on Friday 4th
February 2000. As usual, on that occasion there was the prize - giving of the work group,
where people of different countries best worked together.
At the end of that evening there
was a Bielorussian dresses and dances exhibition and typical dishes sampling, followed by
a presentation about some examples of classic Bielorussian architecture, carried out by
Prof. Wladimir Trazewskij (Faculty of Architecture of Minsk).
During this week, we had as a
guest Dr. Martien Lathouwers (Duch National Youth Council Association "Vereninging
31"), who was introduced by Prof. Galina Polyanskaya, Dean of the Faculty of
Architecture of Minsk.

February 2000)
- First event: opening ceremony of the
exhibition: "Cracow - Florence: a common architectural heritage" - Cultural
Association S.Jacopo Soprarno "Il Punto" - in the presence of many people and
particularly Mr Eugenio Giani (Twinship Councillor of Florence), Prof. Francesco Gurrieri
(Dean of the Faculty of Architecture of Florence), Ms Elzibieta Jogalla (Polish Ambassy
Minister of Cultural Heritage) and Prof. Kazimierz Flaga (Rector of Cracow Polytechnic).

the week: "Imitation and assimilation: two ways of using the Florentine patterns

"The right to have peace: U.N.E.S.C.O.'s engagement for a peace culture in the 21st
century". This congress was suggested by U.N.E.S.C.O. Centre of Florence, with the
presence of Tuscany Local Government, province of Florence Local Government, Florence Town
Council and the Provincial Education Super-Intendency.
Support and contribution to the
Scientific Seminar "Cracow - Florence: a common architectural heritage" run by
Prof. Andrzej Kadluczka (Director of Institute of History of Architecture at Cracow
Polytechnic). During the seminar there were speeches by Dr. Eugenio Giani (Florence
twinship Councillor), Prof. Emma Mandelli (University of Florence, Faculty of
Architecture), Prof. Zbigniew Bialkiewicz, Kazimierz Kuzniers, Ewa Gyurkovich (Krakow
University of Technology, Faculty of Architecture).
Organisation of the 2°
International Round Table with the presence of Academic authorities coming from the

Rectors of six Taiwanese Universities and the President of the European Cultural Exchange

During this event, we started to
come into contact with the Taiwanese Universities that attended the meeting. These
contacts are considered to be the starting point to develop the future involvement of
Taiwanese students in our Foundation international activities.

Conference: "Conservation of the Ancient Timber Load Bearing Structures", with
the co-operation of the College of Engineers of Tuscany, the CNR Institute for Wood
Research and the Japan Foundation. The Conference was suggested by Prof. Francesco
Gurrieri (Dean of Faculty of Architecture of the University of Florence) and all the
co-operating institutions were invited by the Department of History of Architecture and
Architectural Structures Restoration of the Faculty of Architecture of Florence.
Exhibition: "Maquettes and
Documentation of relevant ancient timber structures" in the premises of Fine Arts
Academy of Florence. Next on line publication of the exhibition catalogue, in the
Foundation's web site.
Support to the meeting among a
delegation of Kyiv National of Economics University, Kostanz University and Faculty of
Economics of Florence
During this event, we started to
come into contact with the Rector of Kyiv National of Economics University Prof. Anatoly
Pawlenko, Pro Rector Prof. Sergei Stepanenko, Dean Prof. Volodymyr Khlivny that attended
the meeting. These contacts are considered to be the starting point to develop the future
involvement of Taiwanese students in our Foundation international activities.
9. Other important events
During this report referring
period, some other important events stressed the importance of the international
integration activities carried out by the Foundation. Among these events, we would like to
mention:
On the occasion of the 50th
Anniversary of Cracow University of Technology establishment, the Rector of this
University invited Mr Paolo Del Bianco, President of the Foundation, to Cracow, and gave
him a gold medal in recognition of the activities of international integration carried out
by the Foundation.
Support to the farmers co-operative
"La Fonte O.N.L.U.S.", which assists and helps handicapped people.
Sponsorship of the ceremony "Homage to the
hospital care of Santa Maria Nuova"
Receiving the medal given by the Mayor of Prague
8 City Hall
President Paolo Del Bianco and
the Cracow Polytechnic delegation, that was guest of the Foundation on the occasion of the
exhibition "Cracow - Florence: a common architectural heritage", obtained a
private audience with the Pope.
The Pope expressed his thanks to
the Foundation for its social and cultural commitment in developing relationships between
Poland and Italy, especially among youths who live in these countries.
The Kosciusko Polytechnic of
Krakow dedicates to the President of our Foundation a bronze sculpture realised by Stefan
Douza
Sponsorship of the publishing of
50.000 booklets on the theme "Health Services in Florence", distributed for free
to the tourists who visit Florence.
This initiative was carried out
in co-operation with Rotary Club "Firenze Est", the Hotels members of
Vivahotels, Assindustria (hotel section), and A.I.A. (Italian Association of Hotel
Keepers).
