Brief description of the initiative:
The project stresses the historical roots of contemporary European Culture upon the base of spiritual and artistic values born by Renaissance Florence and enriched through the centuries of cultural progress and interaction between European states, societies and cultures. It aims to stimulate studentsfrom different universities and countries studying Humanities (History, Philology, cultural anthropology, philosophy, etc.) to read classic works of Florentine humanists and observe paintings and sculptures of the 15th c. in situ in order to understand what ideas and feelings had been inspiring the spiritual features of the Humanists' ideas and Artistic representations. The participants due to their understanding will work out, write and illustrate collective essays on their perception of the cultural athmosphere of Florence.
