we are presenting a description of the week accompanied
"Tuscan historical gardens and their influence on garden art in Central and Eastern Europe"
Project
leader: Prof.
Andrzej Tomaszewski
Brief description of the initiative: University teachers and students intending to take part in the workshops must first study the topic of Renaissance gardens in their own countries (both those which still survive in their original form as well as those known only from iconographic and cartographic sources). They are requested to take to Florence selected examples of the basic materials concerning these gardens (publications of fundamental significance, photographs, plans). In Florence the participants in the workshop will collect information concerning Renaissance gardens in Florence and the vicinity, as material on which to base a study of the Renaissance gardens in Central-Eastern Europe, with particular emphasis on their own countries. The aim of this work will be a comparative analysis from which it should emerge to what extent their layouts were influenced by the Tuscan school, then widely-famed in Europe. The collection of information will consist of:
The sketches and photographs and comparative material from Central Europe will be presented in an exhibition, which will be accompained by a seminar which will close and summarise the workshop. The leaders of the national groups which have annouced their interest in this project (at the moment: Hungary, Germany, Poland, Russia) are asked to contact the Romualdo Del Bianco Foundation giving detailed information on the number and names of participants (the optimum number of students would be five in each group) and logistic detailes. Dear participants, Florence, the town with the most beautiful Renaissance gardens in the world, awaits you.
