The catalogue (written in italian) deals with some pictures belonging to the Florentine painting of the second half of the 16th century. These works, which were strongly influenced by the Catholic Reformation, are now showed, together with some other pictures of the same period, in a recently rearranged room of the Uffizi Museum.

The catalogue begins with an introduction where we can find some passages written by the Head of Monuments and Fine Arts Office, the Director of the Uffizi Museum and  the Director of the Department of Renaissance and Mannerism, who describe the contents of this book and the reasons why it was realized.

The pictures showed in the catalogue have been recently restored: restoration works are carefully described through images portraying the whole paintings as well as some significant details. Images are integrated by passages written by art historians and restorers, in order to describe the

historical and artistic context, and the works that allowed to bring these masterpieces back to their original beauty.
