Current changes In Western society affect more and more the choices related to the project, both in
relationship with the specific geo-political, economical, structural conditions and with their different scales.
The challenge In project concerns the whole anthropic environment as never had happened in the past. All
those who are involved in project MI more and more seriously think over it and change their cultural course,
at all scales of project.
The awareness of these transformations is the starting point for this conference, in which this complex
subject will be articulated into some main themes.
The post-modern society creates in the cities the abandonment of inhabitants, due not only to the prohibitive
material conditions out to a real sense of fear (see Z. Bauman).
The main topics of the two days of meeting will concern:
- the changes of the Western and Eastern European society (with some references to non European Eastern
countries); methodologies and strategies aimed to promote processes of transformation towards a new
quality for the territory and of the city;
- the relationship of the theoretical and methodological approaches with the policies related to the characters
of specific territories.
In every term of the conference, two main reports will tack e these subjects and some shorter reports will
describe some specific aspects. The workshop of the third day will summaryze the contents of the meeting,
also laying the basis for the next big conference of 2006, in which the problems related with the current "changes" will be referred to specific situations society (i.e. in «cities of art).
