| Budapest, 2 February, 2001. Dear Paolo, As you know very well, we keep an almost daily contact both with Csenge and with Simone. After a two-week absence, it is a little bit difficult to prepare two different programs in Firenze. I am sorry that last year's "rehabilitation" conference will not be continued during the week between 19 and 26 February this year. I have again carefully read the papers of the Cracow conference, as well as the document prepared for the Round Table. I consider them very good summaries, though they can only modestly reflect the vast, self-sacrificing and very successful work done by the Foundation under your leadership. I completely agree with the philosophy of future activities of the Foundation. We have exchanged ideas on the practical directions of further development, so at the moment I do not touch this topic. Topics which, in my opinion, would need further development are as follows: - clarification of the organizational scheme and working methods of the Advisory Board; - development of bases outside Italy; - theoretical and practical examination of correlations between scientific work and cultural activities (i.e. between Science and Art), and the reflection of this correlation in the programs; beside the continuation of exhibitions, the production of publications and video-tapes sponsored by the Foundation, - the development of Public Relation activities in general; - High-level prizes and other incentives to be established in co-operation with other foundations, in order to raise more interest in the circles of overtasked professors. I am pleased to read that the draft Programme already contains some elements of these above. Of the Programme itself I would not write in details now. I would prefer to talk about it in details during the Round Table. Now I only want to congratulate you once more for the excellently composed written materials. Both the conception and its practical explanation are worth for appreciation. Let me also make use of this opportunity to thank you for the excellently edited Cracow video-tape, and remain, until the earliest possible personal meeting, with best greetings to your family and colleagues, Prof.Dr. Mihály Zádor |
